Real Wedding at the Palladium in Carmel Indiana

Childhood friends get married at Hotel Carmichael & the Palladium | Hannah + Adam

As a wedding videographer, I love capturing stories that have deep history and personal meaning, and Hannah and Adam’s wedding at The Palladium and Hotel Carmichael in Carmel, Indiana was exactly that. Their families have been close for decades—Hannah and Adam have known each other since they were babies. Hannah joked that she always had a crush on Adam, but it wasn’t until their twenties that the timing finally felt right. Their wedding day was a perfect blend of tradition, emotion, and celebration.

Since Jewish customs were an important part of their wedding, those moments were naturally woven into the day. However, Hannah and Adam didn’t want them to be the only focus of the video. Instead, they envisioned something more dynamic—emotional and uplifting during the ceremony, then high-energy and electric for the party, and truly capturing the entire guest experience. My approach to videography is high-end documentary storytelling, blending artistic, elevated footage with genuine, candid moments that truly reflect the couple. Super 8 film, guest interactions, and small personal details were all priorities for them, and I worked to create a film that felt both intimate and cinematic.

Their wedding at The Palladium was not just about two people getting married—it was about family, history, and celebration. Below, I’ll walk through the details of the venue, its reception space, and what makes it such a great option for a Carmel, Indiana wedding.

About The Palladium

The Palladium in Carmel, Indiana, is a concert hall and event venue known for its neoclassical architecture and modern amenities. Opened in 2011 as part of the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts, it features a limestone exterior, grand columns, and a domed roof. Inside, the space includes high ceilings and state-of-the-art acoustics. While primarily a performance venue, it is also available for weddings and private events. Its layout allows for flexible seating and event customization, making it a practical option for large gatherings. The Palladium’s location in Carmel provides easy access to nearby hotels and dining.

The Reception Space at The Palladium

The main concert hall is the venue’s largest event space, offering a grand setting with a domed ceiling, tiered seating, and a central stage. While primarily designed for performances, the space can be adapted for a wedding reception with a unique layout. The professional lighting and acoustics enhance the atmosphere, and seating configurations can be adjusted to accommodate dining and entertainment. Installed at stage level, above the permanent seating, this state-of-the-art temporary floor creates more than 4,000 square feet of space. Available from early August to mid-September, this setup can seat as many as 264 guests for dining and dancing.1

As a videographer, being able to work with the venue coordinators and audio visual technicians on site is priceless when it comes to creating a high end, professional wedding video. I always strive to capture the most stunning footage for my clients and making sure speech givers are giving their toasts from an ideal location, with great lighting, and flawless audio, makes all the difference.

For a cocktail hour or smaller gatherings, the lobby areas provide open spaces with high ceilings, large windows, and elegant architectural details. These areas offer flexibility for pre-reception mingling and bar service.

Accommodations and Amenities for Getting Ready and Wedding Guests

The Palladium does not have on-site accommodations, but Hotel Carmichael is located next door, providing a convenient option for wedding parties and guests. This luxury hotel offers well-appointed rooms, suites, and on-site dining. It also has spaces available for pre-wedding preparations.

For additional guest accommodations, Carmel has several hotels within a short drive, including national chains and boutique options. The Palladium’s location in the Carmel Arts & Design District also provides easy access to restaurants, shops, and entertainment for out-of-town guests.

Hannah & Adam’s Jewish Wedding Ceremony in the ballroom

Hotel Carmichael offers event spaces that can be used for a wedding ceremony, making it a convenient option for couples planning a seamless event. Hannah and Adam customized their ceremony with a stunning, floral covered chuppah and beautiful modern ghost chairs. They chose to have the ceremony towards the back wall away so that Hannah could make her walk down the aisle through the arched terrace doors. As a videographer, this set up was *chef’s kiss*.

Pro tip: they used drapery to create a seamless backdrop for the ceremony. The combination of external lighting by Evans A/V and natural light from the windows made our video footage look so much better! In other instances, when the terrace doors are behind the bride and groom for the ceremony, we struggle with the backlight, making it less than ideal for photo and video. Especially during winter ceremony where the setting sun can change the light drastically.

After the ceremony, guests walked right next door to The Palladium for the reception, eliminating the need for transportation between venues. This setup allows for a formal ceremony in the hotel’s ballroom or outdoor terrace, followed by a reception in the main concert hall or lobby areas at The Palladium. Using both venues provides a mix of intimate and grand settings while keeping everything within a short distance for guests. It was also sooo fun to watch the couple walk over straight into their reception room reveal!

who I am

Hey, I'm Emelie

I care deeply about telling stories that are honest and real. The kinds of weddings that I love to capture and the type of clients I work with are not defined by the style of wedding they have. Outdoor adventures or classic ballrooms, rustic or luxury — the budget, style and vibe of your wedding doesn’t matter as much as telling your story authentically, focusing on emotion and personality, and staying true to who you are. I strive to capture the most genuine moments and I do so by letting your day unfold as is while gently guiding you if you need me.
